Riverlight is a partner of Right to Equality’s Breaking Bias, Building Justice campaign.
Right To Equality is a forward-thinking non profit organisation committed to creating tangible change through legal reform in the UK. Their mission revolves around championing gender equality under the law and advocating for the rights of women and girls. With a focus on reshaping legislation, they strive to build a world where justice and equity are accessible to all, regardless of gender.
Judicial Bias is a serious issue. Right to Equality aims to address this issue by expanding transparency through paying for journalists to write on Family Court experiences, publishing a comprehensive report on the scope of the issue, and presenting policy recommendations for training based on our collected data.
The purpose of “Breaking Bias, Building Justice” campaign is to address and mitigate bias within the British judiciary, promoting a fair and inclusive legal system that upholds the principles of justice for all citizens. Specifically, it will disseminate information on how women are at a disadvantage in a system dominated by a narrow sub-section of white, upper-middle-class men. This campaign will drive tangible change by publishing a comprehensive report, using the media to build awareness, and engaging MPs to highlight bias discrimination by judges and ensure greater transparency in the courts. With evidence-based advocacy, this will create a more equitable judicial system, restoring public faith in the integrity of this pillar democratic institution.
